Navigation Disclaimer: ApexMaps is a navigation aid only. Always obey all traffic laws and local regulations. Never use this app in an unsafe manner while driving. ApexMaps is not liable for any accidents, traffic violations, or damages resulting from the use of this application. You are solely responsible for your driving behavior at all times.

Who We Are

ApexMaps is an independent mobile navigation application developed by an individual developer. We can be reached at privacy@apexmaps.app.

Information We Collect

Location data — Your GPS coordinates are used to display your position on the map, provide navigation, and enable proximity-based features. Location is only used while the app is in the foreground.
Anonymous device identifier — A randomly generated anonymous ID is created when you first use the app. This is not linked to your name, email, or any personal information unless you choose to sign in.
Account information (optional) — If you sign in with Google or create an email account, we collect your display name and email address.
User-submitted reports — If you submit a police report, we store the approximate location and timestamp. Reports are automatically deleted after 24 hours.

How We Use Your Information

To display your location on the map and provide navigation features
To show you nearby police reports and camera locations
To associate your submitted reports with your anonymous session (for rate limiting)
To manage your account and premium subscription status

Data Processors

We use the following third-party services to operate ApexMaps:

Supabase — Database and authentication (supabase.com)
OpenFreeMap / OpenStreetMap — Map tiles and road data. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL)
OSRM — Route calculation
Photon / Komoot — Location search
Google — Sign-in with Google (optional)
RevenueCat — Subscription management (premium users only)

Data We Do Not Collect

We do not sell your data to any third party
We do not track your location in the background
We do not build advertising profiles
We do not share your location history with other users

Your Rights

You can request deletion of your data at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete My Data). This removes all cop reports you've submitted and deletes your account. For other data requests, contact us at privacy@apexmaps.app.

If you are a resident of California (CCPA), Virginia (VCDPA), or the European Union (GDPR), you have additional rights including the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data. Contact us to exercise these rights.

Data Retention

Police reports: automatically deleted after 24 hours
Anonymous session data: stored until you clear app data or request deletion
Account data: stored until you delete your account

Children's Privacy

ApexMaps is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app. Continued use of ApexMaps after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

By downloading or using ApexMaps, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

Navigation Safety — Important

ApexMaps is provided as a navigation aid only. By using this app you agree that:

You will obey all traffic laws and posted speed limits at all times
You will not use the app in an unsafe manner while operating a vehicle
ApexMaps is not responsible for any accidents, injuries, or violations resulting from use of this app
Police report and camera data is community-sourced and may be inaccurate — do not rely on it exclusively
You use all navigation features at your own risk

User Conduct

You may not submit false or misleading police reports
You may not attempt to circumvent rate limits or abuse the reporting system
You may not use the app for any illegal purpose
You may not attempt to reverse engineer, modify, or distribute the app

Premium Subscription

ApexMaps offers a premium subscription ("ApexMaps Premium") that unlocks additional features including Windy Road discovery. Subscriptions are billed monthly through Google Play. You may cancel at any time. Refunds are subject to Google Play's refund policy. We reserve the right to modify premium features with reasonable notice.

Disclaimer of Warranties

ApexMaps is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy of map data, navigation instructions, police reports, or camera locations. Road and traffic conditions change — always use your own judgment while driving.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ApexMaps and its developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to traffic violations, accidents, or property damage.

Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your account for violation of these terms. You may delete your account at any time from within the app.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
